The Contents of Patitha Volume 1, 2003

In addition to the introduction and book reviews, volume 1 of Patitha (2003) includes the following essays:

The Contents of Patitha Volume 2, 2004

Patitha Volume 2 (2004) was designed as a special volume on reading urban space and reevaluating the concept of ‘magic realism'. In addition to the introduction, glossary and book reviews, volume 2 of Patitha (2004) includes the following essays:

  • Building on Disappearance: Hong Kong Architecture and Colonial Space by Akbar Abbas (translated from the English by Harindra Dassanayake).
  • Indigenizing the Colonial City: Late 19 th Century Colombo and its Landscape by Nihal Perera (translated from the English by Harindra Dassanayake).
  • Magic Realism as a Post-Realism by Liyanage Amarakeerthi.

The Contents of Patitha Volume 3, 2005

 

Volume 3 of Patitha (2005) was conceived as a special volume on colonialism and postcolonial memory given the fact 2005 marks the 500 th year since the advent of European colonialism in South Asia . In addition to the introduction, glossary and book reviews, volume 3 of Patitha includes the following essays:

  • The Savage Appetites: Cannibal Talk in the South Seas of the European Imagination by Gananath Obeyesekere (Translated from the English by Harindra Dassanayake).
  • An Introduction to the Post Colonial Discourse by Jagath Pathirage.
  • Ideology and Iconography: Arumgam Navalar as the Fifth Guravar ( teacher) by Pakkianadan Ahilan (Translated from the Tamil by Saminadan Wimal)

Panuwal Volume 2 (2004) was conceived as a special issue on the politics of memory. In addition to the introduction and book reviews, volume 2 of Panuwal includes the following essays:
