The South Asian Artists Residency program was an event that brought  women artists together from different cultural, geographical and artistic backgrounds. The residency was held from 16th May to 9th June 2005 at the Theertha Art Guest House. It also part of the ongoing cultural exchange and regional cooperation within south Asia. Theertha together with other artist groups such as Khoj India, Vasal Pakisthan, Brito Bangladesh, Sutra Nepal have been working for nearly 4 years towards a regional network for artists through their workshops and residency programs. With the common histories,   close political ties and contemporary experience of rapidly changing cultural phenomena, the artists from the South Asian region finds inspiration interacting and sharing art ideologies and creative energies.
