The IAW 2006 was held at the Ratnasiri Wicramanayake Training Centre facility situated in the  beautiful hills of  Hantana amidst the green and lush tea estates. Hantana hills are better known for its mountainous eco systems in Sri Lanka and is 20 minutes away from  Kandy, a historically significant town  which was the last kingdom of Sri Lanka before it became a colony under the British empire in 1815.

The artists were engaged in collaborative as well as solo works.   They included installation, performance, painting, sculpture, photographic work, video work, dance and earthworks. Artists mostly used locally available material and responded to the site making use of history of the site and energies pertaining to its immediate environment.
