Inauguration Exhibition of Red Dot Gallery:   An exhibition was held in January 2007 to mark the opening of Red Dot Gallery at Theertha.  Artists Jagath Weerasinghe, Anoli Perera and  Sarath Kumarasiri’s work were included in the show.
 


 

Arte Curioso Invitation Image   

Arte Curioso:  ArtLab & Theertha presents Arte Curioso, an exhibition  taking the theme of  ‘art as curious  objects’.  The exhibition was a development from a reed weaving workshop held in Polonnaruwa with craft artist Ms. Somawathi, a senior award winning artist on traditional reed weaving.  The exhibition was held on the 25th of  February 2007 at the Red Dot Gallery.  19 artists  participated in the exhibition.


 

 Theertha International Painters’ Residency 2007: Primary objective of the International Painters’ Residency program is to provide an environment of collaboration, experimentation and exchange for artists where they could work together in an informal unstructured program.  The participating artists in the Residency were Kuzana Ogg (USA), Ruchika Wason Singh (India), Kingsley Gunatilleke (Sri Lankan), Chamari Thapaswarage (Sri Lankan) and Lasantha Chandana Kumara (Sri Lankan).  The Residency program ended with an exhibition at the Red Dot Gallery, an art space maintained by Theertha.  The artwork produced in the residency were be shown in the exhibition from 10 to  20th June 2007.

Women Artists Colloquium Exhibition 2006:  An exhibition was held as part of the Women Artists' Colloquium at Red Dot gallery from 9th to 25th July 2007.  The participating artsts were Dilakshi Wagasinghe, Ruwani Jayarathne, Sajeevi Jayasundera, Sajeevani Hewavitharana, H. D. Sharmila Priyadharsini.

 

Theertha International Artists Residency  2007 Exhibition: Theertha International Artists Residency  2007 was held from  18 July to 14th August 2007.  Imran Ahmed Khan (Pakistan), Mariyam Naeema Omar (Maldives), Leung Wee Ping (Hongkong) , Pradeep Chandrasiri, Vijitha Bandara and Sameera Macan Marker participated in the residency program.  While each residency program would have its own focus the overall emphasis of residencies are meant to support new ideas and experimental art making that would be different to the art practices the participating artists engage in their regular art practice.  A specific theme was not suggested and the artists were expected to find their own ideas explored within the local context.
The exhibition was held at the Red Dot Gallery from 19th to 28th August 2007. There were around 130 people who attended the exhibition opening.

Pradarshana Wasanthaya 2007:  As a forum to present latest art by leading artists and young emerging artists who are working in experimental and innovative work, the Red Dot Gallery would be allocated its space from September to January each year under  the  program ‘Pradharshana Wasanthaya’ meaning gallery season.  2007 gallery season was curated by Jagath Weerasinghe and featured solo exhibitions of artists Anura Krishantha, Rohana Amerasinghe, Sanath Kalubadana Pradeep Chandrasiri and Anoli Perera.
