Urban and the Individual

Urban and the Individual exhibition was an exercise for artists to think, discuss and articulate on social and cultural phenomena that is usually taken for granted and to search for new ways and means to interpret situations of life beyond the conventional and the predictable through their art.  The exhibition explored the tensions and the celebration of self within workings of present day cultural /social forces that are defined by the global economies, technological abundance and highly consumer free market systems. The exhibition was held at Finomenal Space gallery, Colombo from 5th to 11th November 2004 with the participation of 19 artists.
