It will also channel the community energy to preserve and manage and also value the heritage as collective responsibility. This would also emphasis that irrespective of which ethnic/ religious root reflects these cultural and historical property it is nevertheless be viewed as part of  overall Sri Lankan heritage and therefore it is the collective responsibility of the immediate community to preserve and respect it.

Curtain: Curtains define and constructspaces, areas, and terrains and as such curtains are metaphors for power and processes of inclusion and exclusion. Imagining inevitably requires dismantling/ breaking/ dislocating 'curtains'

International Women Art Residency 2009 (IWAR ) Exhibition


Exhibition of the International Women Artists Residency  was held from  7th to 17th January 2010 was held at the Red Dot Gallery. The artist Manori Jayasinghe (Sri Lank), Louise Low Seok Loo (Malaysia) , Sajeewani Hewawitharana (Sri Lanka), Sonia Jose (India) , Saurganga Darshandhari (Nepal)  and  Therica Miyanadeniya (Sri Lanka) participated in the residency and exhibition.  For more information visit International Art Program/ Art Residencies 2009.

 

 

International Art Residency (New Media Art) 2009


The New Media Residency was held from 1st to 30th March 2010 and the exhibition of the residency was held from 27th March to 7th April 2010.  The Participating artist were Eline Jongsma (Netherlands), Kel O'Neill (USA), Kusal Gunasekara (Sri Lanka), Manoj Baviskar (India), Pradeep Thalawatta (Sri Lanka), Prasanna Ranabahu (Sri Lanka), Sarawut Chutiwongpeti (Thailand). .  For more information visit International Art Program/ Art Residencies 2009.


Pradarshana Wasanthaya 2009 exhibitions.

Under the Pradharshana Wasanthaya 2009 three  senior artists’ exhibitions and three young artists’ exhibitions were lined up. The Pradarshana Wasanthaya 2009 exhibitions were curated by Pradeep Chandrasiri and Prasanna Ranabahu.

Freshly Baked Series of exhibitions showing the young artists works started with Saman Liyanage’s charcoal drawing in ‘Art of Saman Liyanae’ held from 23 January to 3rd February 2009 at the Red Dot Gallary.

Aruna Widanarachchi’s work was shown under the Freshly Baked exhibition series titled ‘ Art of A Aruna Widanarachchi’ held from 6th to 18th February 2009 at the Red Dot Gallery.


The final exhibition under Freshly Baked exhibition series  ‘Art of Inoka de Silva and Shamila Kumari’ by 2 artists was held at Red Dot Gallery from 20th February to 4th March 2009.


The senior artists’ exhibition series was started with Bandu Manamperi’s exhibition ‘Numbed’ held at Red Dot Gallery from 17th October to 9th Novembers 2009.


Koralegedera Pushpakumara’s exhibition ‘Goodwill Hardware’ was held from 14th November to 7th December 2009 at the Red Dot Gallery.
Sarath Kumarasiri’s exhibition ‘Pansal Kovil’ was held from 12th December 2009 to 4th January 2010 at the Red Dot Gallery.

 

Celestial Fervor by Jagath Weerasinghe


The senior artist Jagath Weerasinghe held his solo show Celestial Fervor at the Red Dot Gallery from 8th September to 5th October 2009. This is part of the retrospectives/ special exhibitions series that Theertha hopes to hold felicitating senior artists for their contributions to the Sri Lankan visual art field.

Theertha Exhibition at National Art Gallery, Maldive

The exhibition ‘Theertha - Works on Paper’ opened at the National Art Gallery (NAG) on 16 July 2009. The exhibition will run until the 6th of August 2009. Drawings and paintings done on paper by Theertha artists, which include Jagath Weerasinge, Pradeep Chandrasiri, Thisath Thoradeniya, Janananda Laksiri, Anoli Perera, Lakisha Fernando, Pushpakumara Koralegedera, Lalith Manage, Pala Pothupitiya, Sarath Kumarasiri, Bandu Manamperi, Anura Krishantha and Pradeep Thalawatte were presented in the exhibition.
